Noble Lake Dam

This project consisted of performing a geotechnical reconnaissance of a 10 to 15 feet high 500-foot long earthen dam constructed about 100 years ago.  Access to the site was very challenging and was primarily only ATV accessible.  Our staff performed Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) Dam Safety Inspection at the time of the reconnaissance.  Difficult access conditions, seepage, embankment erosion were some of the challenges requiring a creative solution.  The solution needed to address the design challenges while also considering constructability in the remote location and cost effectiveness.
